We are the Student Affairs specialists at WCTC. In Student Life, we know that students benefit more from college if they engage in a variety of educationally purposeful activities. Research has shown that involvement in academic and social life of an institution enhances learning and that students who feel connected to the campus are more likely to take advantage of resources to help them succeed. We are here to assist in the development of the "whole student" so that they may learn to be productive members of the campus, community, and society in general. We believe the student is the most important person on this campus. Without them, there would be no need for this institution. We are dependent on them. They are not to be hurried away so we can do our own thing...they ARE our thing. They are not an interruption to our work, but the purpose of it.

VISION:  The Office of Student Life makes great things happen by creating a positive campus community focused on student success.

MISSION:  The Office of Student Life provides resources and support to foster an environment of engaged, accountable, and competent students with a diverse perspective.

General Information

The Student Life Office plays an integral role in daily life on campus. It supplements your academic experience by offering a wide variety of out-of-classroom experiences that enable you to excel in your career.

Student Life offers numerous activities and leadership opportunities to assist in your personal and professional development. Co-curricular experiences are important and can help you develop critical life skills. Through these experiences, you can gain knowledge and tools to become a more effective leader on campus, in the community, at work and at home.

Employers recognize the importance of leadership and campus involvement. They seek out students who are academically strong and who are involved in professional organizations, community service and service learning projects, leisure activities and campus leadership.

Student Life oversees: Student Government Association (SGA), Student Organizations (Clubs), New Student Orientation (NSO), Student Awards, Student Conduct, Behavioral Intervention Team, Campus Cupboard, the Navigators and Graduation. The office also serves as a resource regarding student health insurance.

Campus Cupboard

Currently enrolled students may access the Campus Cupboard, WCTC's on-campus food pantry, for nutritional assistance. Students must show a current WCTC student ID card in order to pick up a pre-packed bag of groceries, which contains breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Limit one bag per week per student. Campus Cupboard bags may be picked up at the Student Life office (C121) anytime during normal business hours. See flyer below for additional information.

Fall / Spring Awards

Each Semester, the Student Life office sponsors the Student Awards Program. This is a time for us to recognize the outstanding achievements of our graduating students.

Program Awards

Faculty are asked each semester to nominate (1) student per program to receive the "Outstanding Program Award." These students represent the "best of the best" in their respective academic program. The selection process is left to the discretion of each program area, but the following criteria should be used:

  • Student MUST be graduating during that semester
  • Must be graduating from a technical diploma, associate degree or apprenticeship
  • 3.0 or higher GPA in their program
  • Involved in college and/or community activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal and program excellence

Club Awards

Club Advisors are asked each semester to nominate one graduating club member to receive the "Outstanding Club Member Award." Each club is free to use their own selection process.

Outstanding Student Award

All Program Award recipients are invited to apply for one of four Outstanding Student Awards (one per School). The students are asked to complete an application and submit a professional resume. The awards committee, comprised of a cross-section of staff members, conducts interviews to select the top student in each school who represents the spirit and mission of WCTC.
