Kenya is at the heart of innovation around mobile phone-based money transfer services, payments, and micro-financing. M-Pesa, which means “m-money” in Swahili, is a mobile money service that was launched in 2007 in Kenya. For this engaging presentation, Danstan Wasobokha Wanyonyi who is an IT specialist at Microsoft, will share his own personal journey of innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa and some of the many dynamic initiatives and unique businesses he has been involved in. Danstan will also discuss three innovations incorporating M-Pesa and the effects this has had in Kenya.
