Career Connections: Faculty Resources

Career Connections staff completed hundreds of presentations on topics that included resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, personal brand and networking, LinkedIn, as well as the services we provide.  We are here to help support students who are not only on the right career path, but to ensure that they possess important employability skills.  Invite us to your classroom, refer your students to us who may be struggling in their program, and register for Handshake so you can be informed of the latest job openings to pass on to students.

As a faculty member, you can register to use Handshake and receive part-time, full-time, and internship job leads for up to three program areas to pass on to students.

How Handshake works for Students

  • It's a searchable employment database of part- and full-time jobs submitted by employers who have an interest in hiring a WCTC or WTCS student or graduate.
  • Provides a list of employer recruitments and job fairs.
  • Register to use Handshake online.
  • Go to Handshake once students are registered.
  • Students can upload their resumes for employers to view. Students simply log into their Handshake account to upload their resume. Note: Students must be enrolled in or graduated from a diploma or associate degree program AND registered in Handshake in order to upload their resume.

Do Employers Contact You with Job Leads?

If you receive a job notice from an employer, please forward the information to the Career Connections department or let the employer know that he/she can post the job directly through Handshake.  Posting positions in Handshake will help ensure that all students and graduates have an equal opportunity to apply for appropriate positions in accordance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Act.
