Need help with APA formatting? Start here!

Do you need to write a paper or cite some sources in APA style? Don't panic! This page will guide you through.

Getting started

If you still need further help after looking through this guide (don't forget to check out the tabs about doing your in-text citations and your references, up above ↑), you have options!

Feel free to visit the library or to get in touch with us for individualized help! Chat, email, and phone information is in the box on the far right. →

Look at the official APA Style blog, which has tons of detailed information as well as blog posts addressing specific topics. APA Style also has a guide on setting up your paper in APA format which could be useful!

Check out the Purdue OWL (Online Writing Lab), a great resource for all things APA, which includes a sample student paper you can view.

APA manual

We have multiple copies of the APA manual available in the library if you would like to get more information about APA format.

Just need to cite?

If you don't need to do a whole paper in APA style, and just need to know how to cite your sources, check out this handout about building your reference page. It includes the basics on how to build citations for books, articles, and websites, as well as a sample reference page.

If you need more in-depth help on how to build your citations, check out the References tabs above. If you need help creating citations in the body of your paper, see the in-text citations tab above.
